
Christian Science was first introduced to the Fairbanks area in 1903, when a Christian Science Reading Room was opened near the present location of 7th Avenue and Barnette Street.
In 1906 the first public church service was held. That Thanksgiving Day, two of the congregation walked 12 miles through 50 below zero temperatures to attend.
1916 marked the first Christian Science public lecture given in Fairbanks. Yearly lectures have been given in Fairbanks by a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship since at least 1934.
In 1925 a new church site at 603 Third Avenue was purchased.
In the early morning hours of July 23, 1959, the church building was moved by flatbed truck to its present location at 811 First Avenue. The home of E.T. Barnette having first been dismantled and moved from the lot to Alaskaland.
