THE BLESSED ASTONISHING CHRISTINA

In previous years, this event has included, aside from general
astonishment and confusion, croquet tournaments, Polynesian
dance troupes, pig roasts, and hot dogs.

At the least, it's a nice time to get together and have a picnic.
It includes a highly competitive tournament, a paper airplane
(levitation)contest.

It can include moosehead soup, Yukon River king salmon, potato
salad, hamburgers, hot dogs, fresh veggies with dips, chocolate
cakes, etc.

Who is the Blessed Astonishing Christina & how did we get into this?

Christina was a medieval lady, in Belgium, who reportedly did a variety of astonishing things - flying up into the church rafters, rolling up into a ball, etc. She is the Patroness, bye the bye, of psychiatrists.

Once upon a time the rector was on a Retreat with the Sunday School teachers and, at a loose moment, they found themselves reading Butler's Lives of the Saints and stumbled into Christina. Because her Feast Day (July 24th) is near the end of Golden Days it seemed like a good idea for a picnic. It's been going ever since.
